The life of 15th-century Russian painter Andrei Rublev, that country's greatest iconographer. Rublev struggles to maintain his faith and his art in the turbulence of the times; since relatively little is known of his actual life, the film is actually the story of Russia rather than a true depiction of the artist himself. Slow-paced and unconventional; divided into 8 episodes. For a quarter century, only butchered versions were available. Correct runtime is 205 minutes.
