REVIEWS

Review by anonymous (posted on 18-Jul-2006)

In my book this is one the best Cagney films I have seen. I was stunned that I had never heard of it till now. To really appreciate this great movie, you have to get the typical Cagney typecasting out of your mind. Still he does play some of the typical hard nose tough guy ...tempered of course by Stanwycks soothing calming character. Although there is no literal or proverbial "Song and Dance" in this role for him, the heart and passion he gives his character is touching and wonderful. Also, we have a well-written screen play on a subject that still touches so many lives today. The surprise ending really topped off this great story. Too bad they usually don't end up like this in the real world. July 18, 2006 Philip T. Sarlo
