42 (12-Apr-2013)
Director: Brian Helgeland Writer: Brian Helgeland Keywords: Sports Drama, Baseball, Biography Biopic about the life and times of Jackie Robinson, a baseball legend who instantly became a hero to many and a villain to others upon his shattering of Major League Baseball's long-standing color barrier.
ABSTRACT Chadwick Boseman stars in this silver-screen dramatization of the story of Negro League phenomenon Jackie Robinson's odyssey towards becoming the first African-American Major League Baseball player in the sport's modern history, chronicling his struggles with racism from fans and teammates alike and friendship with teammate and advocate Pee Wee Reese along the way. Though 42 contained a few minor historical inaccuracies, it was nonetheless well-received by most critics and baseball geeks alike, with Robinson's widow Rachel going so far as to proclaim it to be an authentic and powerful reproduction of his tale.
