Fela Kuti was a veritable giant of African music, blending several genres -- jazz, rock, and traditional African music among them -- together to create "Afrobeat", a new sound propelling him to controversial stardom in post-colonial Africa. Finding Fela! examines Kuti's career, a storied existence entertaining and inspiring democratic change in his native Nigeria cut short by AIDS in 1997.
