ABSTRACT
A young man ends his prison sentence for a murder committed in his past; with the help of his caseworker, he decides to make a new life for himself in adulthood, choosing the name "Jack" as he settles in Manchester. Sparks fly between Jack and smitten co-worker Michelle at his new job, though their love is complicated by his inability to reconcile himself with his past and the performance of a good deed that transforms him into a local hero.
