Fifteen-year old Mia is a wild child with a bad lot in life, living in a blighted Essex housing project with foul-mouthed alcoholic mother Joanne and her mean-spirited younger sister. Things change for Mia in a strange and questionable way with the arrival of Joanne's new boyfriend, Connor, a smooth-talking handsome thirty-something man who strikes up an illicit romantic connection with her predicated on her love of dance.
