An exiled Russian General rescues a woman ready to commit suicide in interwar Paris; she agrees to participate in an elaborate caper to pass herself off as Grand Duchess Anastasia. Her impersonation is incredibly convincing; many people that knew her believe her genuine. Ingrid Bergman won the Oscar for Best Actress; the film additionally received a nomination for Best Dramatic Score.
