ABSTRACT Alan Turing, prodigious mathematician renowned for his original concepts regarding computing and artificial intelligence at Cambridge University, is called into service for his native Great Britain during World War II when he is asked to help decode Nazi naval transmissions sent with the assistance of the tough-to-crack Enigma machine. An attractive young woman by the name of Joan Clarke joins Turing's team, sparking a flame with the brilliant thinker; Turing's closeted homosexuality threatens to destroy his relationship with Joan and reputation, however, as he is gay in a time when such a sexual orientation is tantamount to wearing a scarlet letter.
