ABSTRACT
Korean War veteran Walt Kowalski, a widower living out his later years in a rapidly-changing Michigan neighborhood, regards his area's increasing minority population with a measure of bitterness and prejudice. When young Hmong neighbor Thao attempts to steal his most prized possession, a mint-condition 1972 Ford Gran Torino, Walt finds himself setting out on an unlikely personal journey as his mission to reform the troubled teen's ways soon turns into a race-transcending effort to protect him against their area's gang threat.
