A mother and daughter draw the ire of their traditionalist French town after opening up a chocolate shop together.

ABSTRACT
Mysterious young woman Vianne moves into a Catholic village in France with her six-year old daughter in 1959, setting up a chocolate shop across the street from the town's largest church just after the start of Lent. Vianne's charm and business acumen slowly but surely break through the hardened souls of the ever-uptight locals, taking the town by storm even as mayor Comte de Reynaud endeavors to run her back to whence she came in this formulaic battle of contemporary passion against conservative traditionalism.
