Continuation of Marius tells Fanny's story after Marius spurns her love.

ABSTRACT
Sequel to Marius (2013). Marius chooses his love of the sea over his love for Fanny after unknowingly impregnating her, sticking her with an unplanned pregnancy and a bleak future when he heads out into the ocean. Fanny marries Panisse, a well-to-do shopkeeper thirty years her senior, setting the stage for a troublesome homecoming when Marius reneges on his chosen path and seeks to win her heart back.
