ABSTRACT
Djay, two-bit pimp struggling to secure a living on the streets of Memphis, decides to make something better of himself upon reaching the age of his late father's sudden death. Always known for having a way with words, Djay channels his talents into an attempted career turn as a rapper, making moves alongside several of his female acquaintances and associates to get ahead in the dog-eat-dog world of music. Won an Oscar for Best Original Song; nominated for Best Actor.
