ABSTRACT
Frustrated small-town American Amy Cole joins the military to see the world, only to be sent to Guantanamo Bay to work as a guard instead of a tour of duty in Iraq. Amy is forced to place herself in the middle of a controversial situation far more complicated than a traditional good guy-versus-bad guy battle, forging an unlikely friendship with a man imprisoned in Guantanamo's detention facility for the past eight years as she attempts to reconcile her moral compass with the expectations accompanying her job.
