Edward is an artificial creation, who due to his creator's death before completion, has scissors for hands. His loneliness ends when an Avon saleslady, Peg Boggs, brings him to live with her family. The townspeople are first enchanted by Edward, then ostracize him. He falls in love with Kim, Peg's teenage daughter. Story told in flashback by Peg to her granddaughter. Received an Oscar nomination for Best Makeup; won a Hugo for Best Dramatic Presentation.
