The Fifth Element (9-May-1997)

Director: Luc Besson

Writers: Luc Besson; Robert Mark Kamen

Music: Eric Serra

Producer: Patrice Ledoux

Keywords: Sci-Fi, Taxi, Explosions

The four classic elementals, Earth Fire, Water and Wind, plus a fifth in the form of orange-haired Leeloo reconstructed from DNA remnants, are needed to fend off a periodic attack by distant evils. Cab driver and former commando Korben Dallas finds himself escorting Leeloo to find Vito Cornelius and obtain four stones that represent the elementals. Magnificently stylish and goofy; the implausible plot is of marginal importance. Received an Oscar nomination for Best Sound Effects Editing. Won 3 César Awards including Best Director and Best Cinematography. Received a Hugo nomination for Best Dramatic Presentation.

REVIEWS

Review by Jeff-at-the-Movies (posted on 25-Mar-2005)

The movie combines incredibly good design graphics for realistic scenes set far in the future. Bruce Willis gives a great performance with the same clip he perfected in Moonlighting. Chris Tucker is outrageously funny and adds to the fun of the whole film.
