ABSTRACT Brooklyn author Nathan Fisher, a man struggling with a lull in his career and recent breakup with his high-powered girlfriend, travels to Florida after receiving an urgent phone call informing him of his father's hospitalization. A surprise discovery that his parents seem to have their things together relative to his present situation in life turns his brief stopover into an extended stay, a strange turn of events compounded by his meeting an intriguing woman who appears to be the exact opposite of his troublesome ex.
