Human civilization suffers a total collapse following the outbreak of the ALZ-113 virus, giving way to a race of genetically-enhanced intelligent apes led by a middle-aged Caesar. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes follows Caesar's apes as they make contact with a band of human survivors near San Francisco for the first time in a decade, moved from an unsteady peace to all-out war due to paranoia and mutual distrust.
