ABSTRACT
Seventeen-year old Maria Alvarez, saddled with an unwanted pregnancy, slaves away at a thankless job on a rose plantation to support her impoverished family. Facing absolute financial ruin when she is fired from her job, a desperate Maria accepts an offer to become a drug mule, thrust into the grisly world of drug trafficking as she is expected to hop a flight to the United States with sixty-two pellets of cocaine in her stomach.
