Clint Eastwood is Pvt. Kelly, who having captured a German Colonel, now knows the location of $16M in Nazi gold kept in a bank 30 miles behind enemy lines. Recruited into his caper are Telly Savalas, a pragmatic sergeant; Don Rickles, procurement; and Donald Sutherland, proto-hippie tank commander who more often than not steals his scenes. Carroll O'Connor is General Colt, not quite aware of what's going on. Makes great use of anachronisms.
