A repressed spinster tightly controlled by her mother receives help from a psychiatrist and is remarkably transformed; on a therapeutic cruise has a brief affair with a married architect. Excellent performance by Bette Davis, for which she received Best Actress Oscar nomination. Won Oscar for Best Score.
