ABSTRACT
Washington, D.C. is the scene of this political thriller, starting with the seemingly unrelated deaths of a Congressman's aide and a petty thief in an alley on an otherwise mundane day. Sensing a potential story, muckraking reporter Cal McAffrey -- an old friend of the Congressman in question -- jumps onto the scene, soon uncovering a massive conspiracy tying together assassins, politicians, and moneyed corporate interests who could prove threatening to his own life if he chooses to go ahead with the story.
