ABSTRACT
Frank Barnes, a veteran engineer on the Allegheny and West Virginia Railroad, works alongside young conductor Will Colson, running trains in the vicinity of the fictional city of Stanton, Pennsylvania. When railroad hostlers Dewey and Gilleece fail to properly switch a freight train containing volatile chemicals onto another track, however, Frank and Will's mundane existences are transformed into perilous ones as they must race against time to prevent a now-runaway train from unleashing chaos in a major city.
