ABSTRACT
Sequel to The Mask of Zorro (1998). Nine years on from the events of The Mask of Zorro, Alejandro de la Vega is torn from wife Elena and young son Joaquin when men from the Pinkerton Agency reveal their knowledge of his secret identity, forcing our depressed hero to seek refuge in a hotel as he struggles with his existence. Elena's burgeoning romance with French count Armand arouses Alejandro's suspicions, soon pulling him back into action to undermine a plot by the same forces who'd conspired against California's bid for statehood years earlier.
