Ben Cronin, a once-troubled and drug-addicted New Jersey high school student turning his life around in a big way thanks to a passion for competitive swimming, engages in a one-night stand with transfer student and "swim fan" Madison Bell against his better judgement and in spite of his existing relationship with girlfriend Amy Miller. Bad decisions end up coming back to haunt Ben as it becomes clear that his tryst has produced a stalker eager to ruin his life when he displays a lack of interest in carrying their casual connection on any further.
