ABSTRACT
New Zealander Burt Munro was obsessed with speed from a young age, possessing a penchant for fast bikes in particular that saw him purchase a 600-cc Indian-brand motorcycle at the age of twenty-one. Fascinated with modifying his beloved Indian to make it run faster and faster still, Burt found his way to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah as a sixty-eight-year old, riding his Indian into the record books with the fastest under-1,000 cc land speed of all time. The World's Fastest Indian is Burt's feel-good story brought to the big screen, touching on challenges faced from skeptical associates and Bonneville officials reluctant to let an old man and his old bike onto their property as he pushed toward the record.
