ABSTRACT
Jack, an impressionable young man living with his family in Texas in the 1950s, is followed from his idealistic childhood through to a disillusioned adulthood wrought with guilt over his estranged relationship with his father, seeking answers to his existence explored within the framework of the film's prevailing themes about the meaning of life, the concept of self, and the existence of the universe. Nominated for Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Cinematography.
