Bruce Dern plays a forest ranger in space, assigned to tend to several small biodomes filled with plants and animals rescued from the polluted Earth, where such botany and biology is no longer sustainable. Strong science fiction with cute robots, plausible characters, and a none-too-subtle environmental message. One of only two feature films directed by special effects wizard Douglas Trumbull. Songs by Joan Baez add to the hippie vibe.
