REVIEWS Review by Joy Norris (posted on 15-Apr-2008) I just saw Flower Drum Song for the first time about four months ago and loved it. My husband said he hated musicals and was not going to watch it and ended up being just as entertained. The entire move was something that was just fun to watch. The music, dancing and portrayals of the charecters in the movie were spectacular. Just an old fashioned look at what movies used to be and I miss it. It is a wonderful change from the gore and grizzle being shown in the theaters now. It is too bad most of the reviews I read about Flower Drum Song all pertain to how the actors and actresses were all Asian and that they could not find enough work afterwards. Shame on Hollywood for such an oversight. Jack Soo, Nancy Kwan, (can not spell her name correctly so forgive me) Myoshi Umecki, and Patrick Adiarte should have been multi million dollar stars. James Shigeta (hope that is spelled somewhat correctly) was excellent in this movie but I think he did work in other movies and should have worked more. I hear Nancy Kwan is speaking out to get Hollywood to offer more parts to Asians. I hope they listen.
