Oklahoma farm boy Claude, drafted into the Army and on his way to report to basic training prior to a tour in Vietnam, comes across a gathering of hippies in New York Central Park; there, he is smitten by a pretty girl on horseback, Sheila. Despite this encounter Claude still reports for duty in Nevada, and a good number of the hippies follow in pursuit. Adaptation of the popular Broadway play, its sharp edges rounded off for the mainstream audience. Great soundtrack.
