A cutthroat 16th-century ship captain encounters the grim reaper and learns his soul is damned; he renounces violence and enters a monastery, which permits him for a time but demands that he leave to meet his destiny. On the road and himself now a victim, Kane is befriended by a family of puritans but just to the west is a scourge of evil quickly sweeping the land. Excellent visuals which thankfully rely very little on CGI. Relatively weak redemption story but still quite a good production for its genre.
