ABSTRACT
Presented as a fictionalized account of the forty-seven Ronin, a band of samurai whose quest for revenge in 18th-century Japan would later be described by several scholars as their country's "national legend", 47 Ronin follows Kai, a pariah and illegitimate mixed-race son of a British sailor, as he joins up with a group of Ronin and embarks on a challenging campaign to defeat Lord Kira, the man responsible for killing their master.
