ABSTRACT Ted Wiggins, a twelve-year old boy living in an entirely artificial walled city, is enamored with the concept of impressing a love interest by bringing her a rare specimen of a real-life tree. Encouraged by his interests, Ted's grandmother relates the story of the Once-ler to him, a wise individual who seeks to be reunited with the Lorax, the guardian of the forests and last remaining voice against the reckless expansion of an ever-synthetic existence.
