Biographical drama relates the true-life tale of an American fighter pilot's battle for survival after a Vietnam War mission gone awry.

ABSTRACT
Navy pilot Dieter Dengler crash-lands in hostile territory when he is shot down during an American-led bombing campaign over Laos in 1965. Retrieved by villagers and remanded to enemy Vietcong forces, Dieter is sent to a prisoner-of-war camp, locked into a harrowing battle of wits with guards and mentally-ill inmates as he struggles to formulate an escape plan.
