Film adaptation of a Philip K. Dick short story of the same name follows a reverse engineer's perilous ordeal after a seemingly golden job opportunity gone sour.

ABSTRACT
Michael Jennings makes his trade as a "reverse engineer" in a near-future United States, working to recreate competing technology for client corporations before having his memory wiped to protect himself. Opportunity ostensibly knocks for Michael when he is offered an eight-figure job by old classmate and Seattle-based tech billionaire James Rethrick to spend three years reverse-engineering a number of devices; when the FBI comes after him for an unspecified act of treason at job's end, however, Michael must set out on the lam while trying to piece together a post-memory wipe recollection of what led him into his dire situation.
