REVIEWS Review by anonymous (posted on 7-Jul-2006) Menace 2 Society was an
absolute masterpiece! This movie is a cult classic among those that
grew up in the early 90's. This movie is an alegory of what has been
happening in every urban neiborhood across America for the last 20
years. In 1993, when this movie was released, there were only the Spike
Lee black films on the scene. This movie was another opportunity for
young black actors and was a refreshing, new, more realistic type of a
movie about young black men that grew up in the hood and became the
victoms of their on actions and inactions. The part that Lorez plays in
this movie reflects the attitude and mentality of so many young black
men and other young men. He is the definition of a real thug truely
void of emotion for the wrongs that he commits. He is a young man that
grew up without any true guidance and is basically ignorant to the
mangitude of his actions. Yet,this movie made me a fan of the young
brother Lorenz and his character O Dogg's boldness and fearless
non-chalant attitude. The way that Lorenz delivers on screen makes you
believe that he is the character "O"Dogg. The main character Kane was
played by Tyrin Turner is also really good in this film, he is
extremely dramatic in a few scenes and plays the hell out if his role
in those parts of the film. The plot is clever and the movie moves
along at a good pace allowing you the opportunity to get to know the
characters. I felt that I knew someone that was just like each one of
the characters. This movie makes a clear statement to its audience and
will always be in my DVD library! It was the best movie of this kind at
the time. This was the movie that others tried to copy but none could
stack up to this one. If you have never seen it, then see it! This was
the movie that broke Lorenz out of the background and into real Stardom!
