Michael O'Donnell derails his college plans in 1989 after he gets his girlfriend pregnant; they marry and 20 years on, his life is a disappointment and divorce is imminent. He visits Hayden High School and there meets a janitor (apparently his spirit animal is a janitor), who transforms his body into that of a 17-year-old. Enrolled at school, what at first seems a second opportunity for himself, is actually a platform to help his high-school aged children.
