A pair of young children, Richard and Emmeline, and a ship's cook Paddy are stranded on a remote tropical island in the early 1900s. Paddy teaches them some rudimentary survival skills but he soon passes away; as the children become older they fall in love, and Emmeline becomes pregnant. Displays a generous amount of fit teenage skin; Brooke Shields was only 14 when this was filmed. Néstor Almendros received an Oscar nomination for Best Cinematography.
