ABSTRACT
April, a young woman living in the well-to-do San Francisco Bay Area city of Palo Alto, California, is the "class virgin" at her high school, navigating an existence as a soccer player and babysitter for her coach while entertaining thoughts of an affair with the much older man. At much the same time, Fred, a self-destructive wild child and friend to an artist with a crush on April, pursues a romance with sex-obsessed wallflower Emily, setting the stage for a tale of young love and chaos in one of the West Coast's richest small cities.
