My most favorite movie. It takes on the apartheid legal system in South Africa, colonialism more generally, and at the same time the essence of the human condition and the nature of truth and faith. The main character's daughter has been murdered, and he seeks revenge in a society that he does not understand, and that does not understand him. But there is much more than this. It is not until he meets the accused murderer that he begins to confront himself.
