Presented in a "found footage" format like preceding entries in its franchise, Paranormal Activity 3 serves as a prequel to its series' established timeline, following a young Kristi as she begins interacting with an invisible friend named "Toby" in 1988 and inadvertently kicks off a series of demonic happenings in her family's household.
