ABSTRACT
Football coach Bob Ladouceur came into the "fixer-upper" job of a lifetime when he became the head coach of De La Salle High School's football team in Concord, California, agreeing to preside over a squad that had never known anything but anguish and futility up to that point. With a mixture of tough love, personality, and flat-out coaching genius, however, he guided the Spartans to an improbable record-setting 151-game winning streak from 1992 to 2003, inspiring his impressionable young players and bringing a fractured community together as dramatized in When the Game Stands Tall.
