ABSTRACT
The Australian government's 1971 introduction of an "R rating" for films led to an explosion of Aussie-produced flicks containing a level of lowbrow humor, violence, and sex never before seen in a heretofore puritanical society. Not Quite Hollywood examines this curious phenomenon, termed "Ozploitation", telling of its influence on the careers of performers such as Mel Gibson and directors like Quentin Tarantino.
