ABSTRACT
Jenny Mellor, a precocious, well-composed sixteen-year old girl living with her family in 1960s suburban London, England, does seemingly everything in her life with a view to being accepted into the ever-prestigious Oxford University upon her completion of secondary school. The unexpected arrival of David Goldman, charmer and suave playboy, into young Jenny's life profoundly affects her existence, as she must weigh the excitement of a promising romance with a ladies' man twice her age with the consequences it may naturally carry for her Oxford dreams.
