A fourteen-year old girl's tryst with an online predator leads to shattered innocence and a fractured family.

Annie Cameron, a fourteen-year old girl living an agreeable life with her family in suburban Chicago, strikes up a connection with a boy named Charlie in an online chat room following her parents' purchase of a laptop for her birthday. Annie's naivete regarding differences between the physical and digital worlds proves to be her undoing, however, as Charlie's unmasking as a middle-aged predator and subsequent defiling of her innocence following their first encounter tear a happy family apart and craft a time-worn cautionary narrative about the dangers of anonymity in an era of unprecedented interconnectedness.
