ABSTRACT
Intended as a loose modern-day silver-screen adaptation of the Philip K. Dick short story Adjustment Team, The Adjustment Bureau follows David Norris, a Brooklyn congressman and frontrunner for his native New York's 2010 Senate election whose run-ins with suited men claiming to be from "the Adjustment Bureau" -- an entity fronted by an unseen "Chairman" whose job it is to ensure people's lives proceed in accordance with "the plan" -- interfere with his burgeoning romance with a woman named Elise Sellas and lead to questions about just how much free will humanity actually possesses.
