An emotionally-troubled man moving with his family to a seemingly perfect countryside home ends up unintentionally taking on the challenge of rebuilding a failed zoo.

ABSTRACT
Ben Mee, a recently-widowed middle-aged man dealing with the loss of his wife and his son's expulsion from school for behavioral problems, ventures out to examine a potential new home for his family in the country after his daughter notices its existence in a paper one day. Though the house seems like everything Ben could have dreamed of, it comes with a significant catch: It must be purchased in combination with a failed zoo on the same lot that closed to the public several years earlier.
