Adrian Cronauer receives assignment to Armed Services Radio in Saigon during the early days of the Vietnam War. Cronauer's act is a bit too irreverent for his superiors, but the rank and file love it. Much of Williams' performance was done without a script, and he outshines all other actors in the film. Limited storyline, with some dramatic moments; loosely based on the life of the real Adrian Cronauer. Robin Williams received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.
