In orbit around planet Mars, astronauts Draper and McReady separately eject to avoid a meteor; Draper survives but McReady dies on impact. Cut off from outside communication and struggling to survive, Draper and his monkey companion Mona face numerous hardships, paramount among them breathable air and his dwindling supplies. Created during the height of the Space Race and filmed at Death Valley. Engaging story, though one must wonder how the batteries lasted for so long.
