Historical drama tells the tale of a breeder and her race horse's 1973 campaign to win the Triple Crown.

Penny Chenery, a Colorado housewife, agrees to take over the operations of her ailing father's horse-racing enterprise, Meadow Stables, despite her near-total lack of knowledge in the field. Working alongside her father's secretary and Kentucky horse breeder Bull Hancock, she presides over the development of a foal named Secretariat after winning a bet, working to train it into a Triple Crown winner and one of the most dominant racehorses of all time despite odds stacked heavily against her.
