A fixed poker game one rainy night on Broadway: Bookkeeper Charles Engle is close to killing himself unless he can come up with $3000 he embezzled. Bill O'Brien believes Engle to be a wealthy rube and sets up the fix. Nina Barona is a showgirl who would like to meet someone. And Gene Gibbons is a drunken playwright who wants to help Engle. Ben Hecht received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
